Backfeeding is now a crime in Alabama.
Backfeeding is what happens when portable electric generators are tied directly into a home’s electrical panel, instead of with a transfer switch causing electricity to flow backwards through power lines. This is a hazard to electric utility workers and now it is a crime to do so.
